Medium Toothed Whales

Do you sense a small, cute presence?

Yes. Yes you do. It's a Narwhal!

According to wikipedia: The narwhal, or narwhale, (Monodon monoceros) is a medium-sized toothed whale that lives year-round in the Arctic. This is the cutest Narwhal I have ever seen. So unexpected in so many ways! :)

Made from the innards of a defunct whoopee cushion. That's why he's so silly and has a curved tusk.

Did I mention I love this little creature? I put him up on the wall so I can see him on a regular basis. He cracks me up!

PS: is he a he?

I don't think female narwhals have the big tusk. Apparently the males use them as communication devices. They kind of "joust" with them, but not aggressively. More like they're sending radio transmissions through their nerve endings to each other. PRETTY COOL.

I would have written a longer note on him, but it's hard to write on narwhals. And you can tell, he's kind of formal. Kind of a formal introduction-type letter. His curved tusk makes him unique. Some of the other narwhals give him a hard time about it, but he knows it gives him a certain jauntiness that they lack.
